Mario Kart themed remote control toy cars have been around, made by Takara Tomy for its Q-steer product line. Not content with cars that simply move around, the company has updated the line with power-ups. Yes, power-ups such as the Mushroom, Shell and Star can be activated from the remote control—but no, they won’t make your Kart grow bigger or fire a real shell. Instead, each car comes with infrared sensors that detect if they’ve been hit and will slow down.
They go on sale from June 19 in Japan for about US$30 each.
